Bau eine Brücke zu einer neuen Kultur. Lerne Deutsch.
Build a bridge to a new culture. Learn German.
Hallo! I am Frau Mason, German teacher at Fayette County High School. I am very enthusiastic about teaching German, and I am pleased to welcome you to my website.
You probably already have some good reasons for learning German . . . Maybe you want to be able to communicate with relatives, or travel to Germany, or prepare yourself for study in a German-speaking country. Maybe a German exchange student sparked your interest, or you have a friend who recommended it, or you just like the way the language sounds. Just in case you need some reassurance in your decision or the final push toward taking the plunge, here are a few more reasons.
1. If English is your native language, or if you already know English, then you already have an advantage when it comes to learning German. Because modern German and modern English both evolved from a common ancestor language, the two languages share many similarities in both vocabulary and grammar.
If you understand any of this. . .
Meine Schwester hat braunes Haar. Sie ist intelligent. Sie lernt Englisch in der Schule. Sie kann gut singen.
. . . then you already know some German!
2. Among students who study a foreign language, those that study German score highest on the verbal portion of the SAT. Probably because of reason #1, learning German contributes to the mastery of English.
3. According to the U.S Census, more Americans can trace their roots back to Germany than to any other country.
4. Throughout the European Union, more people speak German than any other language.
5. Direct investment by Germany in the USA is over 10 billion dollars. There are over 1500 German companies doing business and providing jobs in Georgia.
Anyone can learn German. It only requires interest and practice. Of course, the more you practice, the easier it is, and the quicker you learn.
Herzlich Willkommen!!
